Our Story
History on the Road was created because the best way to understand history is to stand where it happened.
Daniel Tobias Flint an award-winning U.S. history teacher, Marine Corps Veteran, Veteran Advocate and Discovery Education Network STAR Educator, based in Jacksonville, Florida, is building a 45-episode series that does exactly that. Each episode lands in a specific community and explores how bigger national stories played out there — from immigration in New York to labor history in Chicago. The pilot will take place in a city or town near you, using local history, culture, and community stories to help honor America’s 250th anniversary and connect the past to the present.
"Preserving the legacy of those who served is not just a duty; it’s an honor. Together, we uphold their stories and ensure they live on."
Produced by Amelio Media and led by award-winning documentarian Nicole Amelio-Casper, M.A., the project combines cinematic storytelling with educational outreach and community engagement.
Rather than focusing solely on mainstream historical narratives, History on the Road explores the overlooked stories, hidden landmarks, and powerful local histories that helped define America.
The Mission
We want students to feel history as something personal. When they walk the same ground, talk with local historians, and see how the past still shapes their own towns, history stops feeling distant.
Why We Need Your Support Now
Most students only meet history through books and screens. They rarely get to experience it in the actual places where events unfolded.
The pilot episode is ready to film. It has the vision, the locations, and the educational structure. What it’s missing is funding to get started.
Without support, this stays an idea. With it, we can begin shooting, involve local communities and students, and create something schools can use for years. The pilot sets the tone for the entire series.
